Welcome To Walmgate Nursery

** UPDATE **

30th August

Sally is now back from holiday and has decided to reopen the nursery on the 31st August.

Thank you all for your support.

18th August

As of Monday 22nd August, we will temporarily be operating from St Lawrence's church hall, St Larwence street. We will be open on Monday 0800-1300, then all other days 0800-1800. This is only until we can reopen at our normal premises, but whilst we get carpet fitted and items reordered the hall will be our new home. All parents should be contacted by the nursery staff.

Message from Sally Morton:

Hi everyone it is really sad what has happened but hopefully we will be up and running next week the girls and andrew have been working so hard; when the children get back to nursery as a gesture of your loyalty to the nursery I will cap your fees at the current rate for the next two years however if your child goes to pre school in the next two years it will be lowered and capped at that price we will not let mindless acts of damage ruin our care for your children we will return stronger than ever

We are a 42 place day nursery situated in historic Walmgate which is only a short walk from the City Centre. The building is several hundred years old but has been converted to form a modern day care facility that meets all requirements, yet retains character and a nice homely feel. As we are in a city centre location we only have a small outdoor play area but this has been designed to maximise the use of space so each child will benefit from some outdoor play each day. The Nursery also has the use of five drop off and pick up parking spaces for use by our customers.

We have three separate rooms which accommodate three separate age ranges. a Baby Room for ages from 3 months to 2 years, a 2-3 years room and a pre-school room for children from 3-5 years. The ratio of staff to children within the Nursery is in accordance with the 1989 Children Act and we employ qualified and experienced staff.

Our aim is to provide the best quality childcare in a stimulating environment with lots of learning opportunities. We aim to achieve this by:

·      Providing an informal yet stimulating environment enabling each child to develop skills and acquire knowledge at their own individual pace.

·      Offer opportunities to explore and develop

·      Form good relationships between staff parents and other children

·      Providing for emotional, social and physical needs

In November 2002 we were awarded £11,000 of Lottery Funding from the ‘New Opportunities Fund’.  The money has enabled us to provide educational equipment for the children within our Pre-School Room.
